What the hell can you say about these guys that hasn’t already been said everywhere else?
I’ll start by saying that being a member of Broken Teeth was a dream come true for Travis. He called me after he heard that Broken Teeth got played on Eddie Trunk’s NYC radio show. He took a picture of the tour bus and texted it to me on his first tour with BT. I got another phone call when he heard one of their CD’s was going to get a mention on That Metal Show as Jim Florentine’s Album of the Week…I could go on, but I think you get the picture.
He got to play the Shiprocked cruise twice and got to meet other musicians that he’d idolized for decades. I heard about which ones were cool guys and I heard about others which were far from it.
Most importantly, he got to play with other musicians that he’d respected for years…even decades. He was even more honored that they thought enough of him as a bass player to include him as part of their act.
It took awhile, but he became aware that he would probably never get rich playing rock’n’roll, but he loved being a working musician…and he loved being part of a band that worked harder than most.
I’m pretty sure this is the only recording he’s made with Broken Teeth.
Most recently, they’ve released Bulldozer. Try not to buy all the copies right away. I got dibs on a green vinyl copy.
